worked yesterday on my summary/reflection/presentation guidelines. Made some good improvements. However, lost some work when power went out. Visited with Annesa to get a tip about accessible flash buttons.
Worked today on learning all I can about accessibility. Frustrated that I know it better than I can practice it.
Back from vacation now for two days. Learned right before we left that the research proposal wasn't acceptable and I got up early and rewrote it. It turns out that Marie never opened the attachment with these changes. So I cleared that up with her and we went over the changes and tweaked it a little. But she sent it in. Now I have to hear from Katz to see if the usability testing is a go. I started to recruit students and have 19 who have given me their phone numbers. I went to two of Rob's classes to ask and also wandered around the lunch hall. Not the most sciencetific method but oh well. I did speak with Kathy D. and got the names a couple of students with unique profiles - one of whom I have signed up. I also got Vashon to sign on and this will be good since he is a kurtzweil practitioner. It's a holiday tomorrow so I will not be setting up appointments until next Monday. I have to go to Maine to pick up Cait on Tuesday so I hope to conduct the testing on Weds. Thurs. and Fri. This is a tight time frame but could work if appointments can be established, and the students actually come. I guess I could go into the week after that but then things will really get crowded.
Thinking of doing the usability testing on Weds. means that I have to finish tinkering with the sites. I have to finish my study of accessibility and try to make the final site as accessible as I can. Specifically I need to change the navigation buttons to include alt tags. I spent nearly an hour with Julie and we talked about accessibility. She has a copy of dreamweaver mx and will lend it to me. She is excellent at html coding and uses it to make things more accessible. However this new version of dreamweaver really makes using css sheets easier and that's the accessibility wave of the future.
As things wind down I have some regrets and reservations about my project. One is this front page server. Julie suggested that I could have better used my time to take a style sheet course. But about the server, frank and I are to meet at Marlboro on Friday AM to set that up. Why, just to play the hover buttons on a site that will never really be used again. Or is it so that I know front page better and can use it for my client (landmark).
