focusing on developing content but working our some ideas for design. Using the portal model and have the homepage have the most used links - with a navigation system to find more buried information. The homepage will have the week plan, the homework and classroom assignments will be linked. there will also be links to gradekeeper and the online classroom - community zero. I started a community there. am still uncertain about the administration of it but really like the features. Pam set up my computer to bypass the intranet border manager (but says this will be gone by fall anyway). I must look at Norm's materials that he presented to ednet to learn more about community zero. Pam loved learning how to use gradekeeper and set up for other teachers who's web sites she is helping to make. Also Pam recommended that I use library rather than templates for dreamweaver. Finally I will ask Cait to make me a photoshop logo.
track of time - 3 hours on tuesday and about 5-6 planned for today. So far am developing content. Content matters and unlike the other two sites this content is for the future, fall 2002, rather than retreading the current CO101 course. So I'm putting in much time about content but not the web site per say but this work will hopefully directly be applicable in the fall. No need to recreate the wheel. Even before I started on content I needed to set up a file system since for this site, unlike the others, I will be FTPing and will need to keep track of things clearly.
Am working off some sort of portal idea. According to Pam, the students will have a personal customized portal (I have to learn more about this) and will have a link to my site. The homepage will feature the weekly plan and have direct links to those weekly assignmenst and discussion board, grades. Navigation and copyright etc will be managed with a dreamweaver template. Catagories will be home, tech instruction/help, syllabus, scope and sequence. site map/index.
Time to start getting more concrete on the final web site, the list of guidelines and approval of the research committee. Airing my initial ideas about the 3rd web site to Lucie and Peggy added new anxiety about where this is going. So far I have told Tom and Karen with opposite reactions, both of these somewhat predicatable. But what of someone in the field. What is out there about embeded technology in courses? What does this have to do with LD students? I am flying on my instincts here and wonder if there is something I am missing. What's the weak link? Accountability, documentation, management and how to orchestrate the class learning from each other are all possible weak links. Remember my tendency to overshoot. What will, or should fall, to the wayside? I am essentially doubling my curriculum. What work for a teacher? Why would someone do that? What benefits am I promising?
